pretty happy franny

haylo ladies.
yup….i am finally in the wonderful city of boston. today is officially a week i call this place home. my apt is beautiful and settled, just need a few more applicances. who knew one would need that thing called a vacuum?!?! so far, my aptmates and i are getting along very well. our personalities are way too similiar. one of them looks identical to dr. caitlin kelly. they pretty much know boston, so having someone to give me directions is also very helpful. (not that that prevents me from getting lost). classes are very interesting. i have to say i am extremely well prepared graduating from Binghamton. in addition to class, i will be intering 11hrs a wk at a preschool, 4 hrs a wk on a project site, and crossing my fingers for a particular graduate assistantship (working in the Career Services Office) that will pay for about 6 credits of my tuition each semester. i have been doing pretty well with the whole cooking situation. thank goodness for my overbearing mother who cooked a whole bunch of things for me to freeze. been mixing it up with a few of my own “dishes”. laura came to visit me friday afternoon on her way home from visiting her cousin. do not listen to the fact that i somewhat got lost, or that i have already tripped and bruised up my knee. i was doing sooo good over the summer! i guess its the academic atmosphere. it was very nice to see her. i miss you guys soo much. being able to have that natural support system and always having some sort of social plans. frank’s friend, courtney is going to boston university, so it was nice to see her the other nite for coffee. last nite, i went out with 2 of my roomates to a club. there were waaayyy too many of “our songs”. “girls just want to have fun” actually gave me goosebumps and teary. well, after the club we hung out with my aptmates’ new boy and his friends. this were the story gets good….franny has actually met a nice jewish boy. (well i am pretty sure he’s jewish). his name is brandon (I LOVE THAT NAME!!). about my height, dirty blond hair, beautiful green eyes, scruffy facial hair. he is a year older than me. graduated from brown university and has been teaching biology and chemistry for 2 years in roxbury high school. (a bad area of boston). we were all a bit tipsy/drunk and i started playing with his cell phone. as an attempt to show him how to use his cell phone, i plugged my number into his phone book. (clever, eh?) he gave me his cell number too. one of his ultimate goals is to fix up the boston public school system. was born and raised in cape cod. once my roomate and her boy started fooling around, brandon and i kissed. he was such a gentleman about where he placed his hands. finally i feel asleep in his arms around 6am. its soo adorable how self-conscious he is about his body. (no reason at all to be). this morning, my tummy felt a little weird (we were at my aptmates’ boys’ apt) so i got up gave him a kiss on the cheek and let him continue sleeping. AAHHHHH!! you can imagine how nuts i am going now wondering if he is going to call or not?!?! i decided i was going to give him till tuesday nite and if i didnt hear from him i would call him on my way home from class at 930 and be like “interested in doing something?”.
everyone please cross your fingers!!

MWAH…lots of hugs and kisses!

duh

Hey everyone!!! I miss you guys so much. Sorry i haven’t written in a little bit. I’ve been pretty busy. I will tell youa bout my new job but first, i must tell you what a dumbass i am. As some of you know, i had tickets to a dave matthews concert. Tom and i were supposed to go september 9th. So september 7th i looked at the tickets to see what time it was. Curiously, the tickets said september 5th. So i made tom and i miss the concert because i’m stupid. :). Now the job. It’s good so far. It’s a lot of hours but it’s a little bit more relaxing than it was…well, there’s more responsiblity than what i was doing…a lot more, so that’s stressful. But it’s compltetly different, so it’s a nice change. And since i’m not working with customers i can work more at my own pace than at the customers’ pace. I work 10 hours a day four days a week and 12 hours one day. I work 7-5 four days and 10-10 one day. For the training i have every sunday off and then one day during the week which is good :). The girl i’m training with is really good…i’m learning a lot and she’s my age which is nice and we get along well. I think she’s glad i’m there because she doesn’t get along with her full timer (who is like, the second in charge in the department). ok, enough about the job. I haven’t really been doing much else though so i don’t have much to say besides that. I hope everyone else is doing really well :). The summer is over….isn’t it crazy. This is the first time since kindegarten that i haven’t gone back to school…weird. Ok, i’ll talk to you all soon 🙂 i miss you guys so much!!

A missing thong?

Well last time I wrote about how unexciting life in medical school can be, and this time the only excitment I could come up with is that I am missing a thong. Which isn’t that exciting really. Until I inform you all that I lost it on a beach, due to the fact I had to leave in a hurry, due to the fact that a cop was shining a spot light on me and my boyfriend. Why were they shining this light? Well I will let you ladies use your imagination, but don’t worry, we weren’t arrested or anything…and there weren’t tooo many other people on the beach…hehehe
Other than that my weekend after midterms was pretty enjoyable…went shopping (to replace my thong)…and went to the zoo…then sam came back up here with me for the week cuz he is done with work. He is getting a job at JP Morgan for next year, so we are very happy about that!! Our big FIVE year anniversary is coming up Oct 3rd..we are hoping to maybe celebrate by going on a trip somewhere…hopefully with a beach…during the break I have in October..any suggestions on cheap places to go? Until then I will just be being a somewhat boring med student..my friends here are really nice, but they just don’t know how to party …they like to go to bed early and don’t really drink that much….i can’t tell you how much i miss my girls!!!…well hope everything is going well for everyone….and remember to be careful of sand!!

I made a funny!

Haha, here’s a laugh for the day. My mom sent me to get donuts for the people at the office the other day. As I was walking from the parking lot to the building I naturally headed for the door. Trouble was, I was looking inside of the building as I was walking toward it and temporarily forgot that the door will not open itself. I was so distracted by the donuts that I could see through the window that I started walking towards them, instead of the door. I walked straight into the glass wall, banging my head on it!! Although the building was small and mostly clear glass, only one older man saw me do this and seemed too confused about why exactly I walked into the wall that he did not laugh. ah me.

I made it!

I’ve finally found this thing and gotten on!! I don’t have NEARLY enough time today to read everything I’ve missed, but I will. God I miss you guys!! (and am so incredibly proud of all of you!!)

I have gotten the proverbially kick in the pants and I am starting the process of getting my butt out of binghamton. I freaked out about two weeks ago (in a good way believe it or not) and have been extremely motivated since then. I’m not ready to move across the country yet (and I’m pretty sure my sister would kill me since she’s got to plan for her wedding in a little over a year!! – maid of honor, by the way). So, I’m actually looking into the massachusettes area, I’m sure you’re all really surprised. I can’t help it, I love the place (even if the football team apparently blows and the baseball team will make you sweat it out till the very end.. sigh..)
I’m looking at jobs working with kids, and if I can find outdoorsy stuff, I will be sooo happy. this one thing called Nature’s Classroom looks really cool (there’s a website if you want to check it out).
I went hiking labor day weekend with mom and bob, and last saturday I was big and brave and went camping all by myself. it was tons of fun and I really wanted to prove I could do it.
eek! less than a minute before I get kicked off!! I love you all and will talk to you soon!!!

zzzzzzzz the sequel

LuisandRiley.JPG
Okay I’m going to try this again…damn computers will kill your ego whatever chance they get…bastards…they have me under their spell…

So now I can show you the cuteness of Luis falling asleep with a baby sleeping himself. He looks like the Latin Hulk, but really a softie behind those intimidating eyebrows. We go to yet another wedding this weekend, my cousin is getting married in Buffalo – she invited 320 people!! For heaven’s sake, do I know that many people?! Hey Dawn – any hotties at boot camp? Do you run a mud course, and the guy gets all sweaty and muddy and reaches down to help you up and you see his enormous muscles flex and you two…oh my…You are living a porno man!!!

I miss you all more than I can stand!

Shira – thanks for the heads-up! Hope Cali is treating you right!

Adirondak Pictures Finally Online

Here are the pictures from our scandalous trip to Caitlin L.’s cabin–doesn’t that seem like ages ago? I used my best judgement and censored some of them, but if there are any on there that you absolutely hate let me know and I’ll take them off. (Most of them are so blurry from movement during the picture-taking that you can’t tell what they are anyways…lol, I wonder how that happened?). More photo gallery pages coming towards the end of the week!

and i am off….

hey ladies,
just wanted to say hello before i soon depart to the intellectual land of boston. went to orientation on wednesday. (the 2nd time i had ever been to boston). mi god the T-train is sooo clean. all you see are students everywhere!! northeastern’s campus is really pretty and so freaking huge. (excellent for someone like me with NO sense of direction). there are about 25 people in my program. quite a few were snobby ivy league girls, but luckily the rest were pretty nice and from all over (texas, bolivia, montreal, chicago, syracuse). i even got a chance to see my apt and briefly meet one of my aptmates. OH MI GOD my apt is soooooo cute. the building is a 5 floor brownstone. my apt is on the 4th floor. (moving in is going to be sooo fun!!) each floor only has one apt, so meeting people shouldnt be that hard. the living room is HUGE with beautiful large windows. the kitchen has a microwave, dishwasher, and huge refrigerator. beautiful marble black tiles in the bathroom with track lighting everywhere!! you guys sooo have to see how cute. my bedroom is a pretty decent size. it will be nice not having to share a bedroom with ANYONE!! i cant believe next week at this time i’ll be back in class. any helpful advice, caitlin?
hugs and kisses to all!! 🙂

The real world…

Hi Everyone! 🙂
Just thought i’d drop you all a note as to what’s going on in my life. I did my best to enjoy august and make as many visits to see people as i could. i spent 3 days in lake george and loved every minute of it! at the moment i’m admist preparing for my friends wedding this weekend. i’m actually on my way in a bit to make the cans to hang on the back of the care and make ‘just married’ signs. i’ll do my best to figure out how to e-mail pictures so u can see me in my purple dress. i start work at westchester on the 15th (the official start of the real world) but seeing as i had 2 extra years of college, i have to accept that it’s just my time. i’m very excited to start but also scared b/c i haven’t stepped foot inside a hospital since the end of the semester… i’ll let you all know how it goes. i just got back from a mini reunion of some nursing friends in cooperstown and then took a spontaneous trip to binghamton. i was soooo weird to be there! it felt like “home” after living there for so many years. i tried to visit as many people as i could while down there. sorry i missed you nicole! i did try!! it was nice to see everyone who is still up there. i also visited some hinman folk and decker instructors. i had a nice visit. i left on the first day of classes, so it was all busy and crowded. i’m planning on going up to boston next week so i’ll be calling you frances!! i have to see if i can work something out with my cousin who lives up there… other than all that, nothing too much else is going on…

dawn: good luck this weekend!!!! i hope to talk to you soon…
jen: congrats again on the GM position! hope it all goes well
caitlin k: finals already? you’ve been a busy med student… good luck with everything
shira: it so exciting to hear all about what’s going on w/ you in CIA… can’t wait to try some of your new treats… send recipies!
frances: i hope the move to boston went well i really hope that i can see you at some point next week!
nicole: sorry we missed each other… tuesday was way to crazy for me to get out to endicott… i plan on coming up one more time this semester, so i’ll call you and let you know
caitlin l: hope things are going well for you… how’s louis doing?

that’s all for now folks… hope to hear from you all soon!
~laura 🙂
