buried under a pile of articles….

hey everyone,

havent forgotten about my ladies. just buried under a pile of articles i’ve been reading for school. started classes in early september and i dont think i have read this much in my whole life!! after years and years of school i will finally have my PHD in Developmental Psychology, so i guess it will all be worth it one day! everything else is going pretty good. attempting to keep myself sane with non-school stuff. (the key word is ATTEMPTING). its very hard getting use to school work when i just had a year off with a continous paycheck. still living wit my parents, which isnt too bad. school is a few blocks away from where i live, so it just wouldnt make sense to move out. nope….no sign of any men yet. there are 7 other girls in my program. there is one cute second year guy, but i am pretty sure he is gay. my professors are all old jewish men. (i might ask them soon if they have any sons, nephews etc).

but yea….thats about it. doing the school thing forever and ever and ever!

SHIRA – i been randomly looking around for cheap tickets somewhere, and i wanted to know where exactly are you in italy? whats the closest main city? whats the best time of year to come visit? (thats if you are interested in picking up a stray jew!!) 🙂

XOXOXOXOX

back to life, back to reality

Josh and I went to Myrtle Beach from wednesday to saturday, and we had a really great time. my grandmother had gotten this weird “gift certificate” online that allowed her to buy all sorts of stuff off this particular website. it had automatic peelers, care bear movies, romance novels, etc. but it also had a 2-night, 3-day hotel stay in a coupld locations, and that’s what I asked for. it of course had a million loop-holes and things that could go wrong, and I ended up having to pay for an upgrade to NOT lose my reservation, but josh and I got down to south carolina, had a place right on the beach, and were able to walk to a bunch of places for food, (ncluding a GREAT little italian place which advertised the best steak in the universe, and josh contends it was the best in his universe) stay on the beach, and took a limo-cab to a place called “Broadway on the Beach” for our last night of dinner at the Hardrock Cafe and club hopping with drinking, dancing, arcade racing games, and a little karaoke on his part. =)
We had a great trip and now I have to get back to school. it started the day after labor day. I’m taking my last education class for my degree, elementary spanish because I think it would be useful, and I have a paper to write and defend. no more fun for me this semester!! provided I passed the last scary teacher-test that I took last saturday, I will be student teaching next semester, and graduating in May. it’s a little hard for me to believe.
things at the gym are going well. I’m the assistant manager, and I should be getting back from my little vacation just in time for the monthly billing craziness, where we get back the list of all the people whose payments didn’t go through, and then try and convince them to pay… and apologize for it not being my fault.
that’s about it. once again I apologize for my lengthy entry, but as you all know, I have an inherent need to babble. I miss you all a bunch and hope things are going well in your worlds!!

I’ll take the fence with me

Hello Ladies!
So I see we all took a little summer break from the website. My excuse is my Surgery Rotation. It was 2 months of waking up at 445 a.m. and spending 30 hours straight without sleep at the hospital! Can we say fun?!?! I enjoyed what I was doing and learned a lot, but the hours kinda get old quick. So I was working in a Trauma center hospital that serves basically the poorest of the poor. This means I saw some really interesting people. The most interesting trauma case I saw was this young guy (like 25 years old). He just got out of jail the night before and decided he wanted to visit his sister. So he went to her apt. but she didn’t answer her door. So he decided that he would just climb into her window. She lived on the second floor of the building so he climbed up the outside of the building. Well he somehow slipped, and fell onto the wrought iron fence in their yard! So the paremedics found him with the fence through his armpit! It took them an hour to cut a part of the fence off so they could bring him into us. So at 6 am he shows up, with a huge part of the fence just sticking out of him! He was awake and talking but it was crazy! (they don’t pull out the fence at the scene cuz the patient could bleed to death if the fence goes thru a blood vessel.) But there was a happy ending. They took it out in the OR and he was absolutely fine!
Now I am doing family practice for a month so my hours are much better. So far I just have been doing school physicals and talking to ladies about various discharges..not very exciting.
Other then work things are going well. I go out as much as I can and just love living downtown! My mom is becoming a little more open minded about the idea of a non-catholic wedding..but I am still really confused about what I want to do. What do you guys think of meeting up on some nice island and just having a party in during which I happen to get married? Or does anyone just want to plan a wedding for me? cuz i just get a headache thinking about it.
Well this is getting long…so I will stop..but I Hope you all write something soon..I miss you all tons!

Ch-ch-ch-changes

Hey ladies! Doesn’t anyone post anymore?! So I’ve decided to rant a little, if you ladies don’t mind. My new boss is absolutely heinous! Picture a simpering, blond waif who is all ambition but does not have an iota of personality in her bony little body. That is what I’m dealing with! Thus, I have decided to find a new job. I have also decided to start saving for a Kaplan course. I hope I can manage both by the end of the summer. Cross your fingers! Aside from that, I finally bought new glasses and rearranged my room. I spend my weekends watching marathon Sex and the City episodes, inducting my roommate into this venerable hobby. So, aside from going to Boston, things have been dull. Went to my first major league baseball game – Red Sox! I loved it – that is what we should do for a reunion – beer, dogs, and men in tight pants! Don’t worry, I took a picture of a hottie, standing with his rear to me on base – just say the word and I’ll share for your viewing pleasure! Anyways, now that you are snoring, I’ve also starting to try writing a steamy romance novel. Working on the plot, but the sex parts are coming (har) along nicely. I certainly miss the Binghamton ladies a great bunch!

Engaged!!!!!

Well Ladies, It’s official…I AM ENGAGED!!!

It happened on June 7th, after I took my boards. He did it at our new apt. for details I feel that you all should call me! Then the next day we left for Turks and Caicos so my amazing ring could sparkle in the sun! He designed the ring himself so it is an original and it is so gorgeous!! and pretty big too!! THe vacation was amazing!! Didn’t do much except just sit on the beach and swim in the amazingly clear ocean or pool..then we would go out to a nice dinner and have some drinks and repeat the next day. We did go snorkling and saw sea turtles which was pretty amazing…
Since we got back my parents have visted me for a weekend and we have started moving downtown…i dont have internet yet which is why it has taken me so long to inform you ladies…after i get it set up i can try to send pictures of the vacation and the ring..even though pictures really dont’ do it justice!
well i have to run to class…but i hope to hear from you all soon!!

New Digs

I am not moving for at least another two years! I am sooo tired of moving! Josh and I found this awesome two bedroom apartment with a kitchen, living room, dining room, two enclosed porches, driveway we have rights too, and a basement for storage. It’s really great. The second bedroom has become our computer room slash office space, we made the dining room into the tv room, and the living room is a library/reading room area. There is a fireplace in the reading room with a mantle that takes up an entire wall, and two french doors on the opposite wall, so plunking a couch and tv in their would have ruined the beauty of the room. The dining room has a bay window that the couch fits great in, and aside from the built in hutch that’s holding our nice stemware, it was perfect for hooking up all josh’s electronic stuff. The two porches are awesome too because josh has a ton of plants, so the front one gets plenty of sunlight and is a lovely place to do yoga in the morning. The one off the kitchen turns out to be the perfect place to put our two litter boxes for the kitties, and for storing our empty moving boxes until we can figure out what the heck to do with them all. I absolutely love the new place, but I still have some unpacking to do to make it feel like home. Living with josh seems to be working out well too, there is some adjustment to the fact that by living with him, his is ALWAYS here. It’s definately not a bad thing, just new, you know? The only downside to this new apartment is the we know have a real phone line (I’ve been living with only my cell phone since senior year) and now the darn telemarketers won’t leave us alone! We’re supposedly on the no-call list, but they don’t see to care.

One of my cousins graduated from high school this year, which was very bizarre considering I remember when she was born, but it was a nice chance to go down and see my family. I realized however, that I was supposed to ask my entire extended family for permission before moving in with a boy, and some of them were not very pleased. they seemed to get over it though once I explained that I was doing this to make sure this is what I want. Most of them didn’t really seem upset, just shocked. Apparently this is not what they were expecting from me, my sister has always been the “wild” one in the family. =)

With moving and all, I haven’t started my research yet, and my professor is hard to get a hold of, but I’m making serious efforts now, so I hope to be starting in the next week or so. Work is going well, I just had to take a test for the bank to make sure I know what services we offer, and my boss at the gym is looking into the possibilities of giving me more responsibility and money.

I’m loving having cats again, although two certainly is a handful. Josh has had his cat for about two years, and about a month before we moved she decided she was going to accept my presence in their lives and love and cuddle me. My little brother has moved in with his girlfriend, but they couldn’t afford a place that would allow pets, so he gave me his. They seem to be getting along well, they “fight” a lot, but they never use claws, so I think it’s mainly sibling rivalry. They do however, work together. the second night we were here, about 4:30 in the morning, the cats started going bananas. we couldn’t for the life of us figure out why, until josh got up to get ready for work, and turned on the light in the kitchen. The cats had ripped open a fresh bag of catnip and were rolling around in it, high as kites. the effects didn’t wear off for hours, and we decided to keep the catnip on the highest shelf in the pantry. Which worked temprorarily, but the other day, they apparently made their way up there and knocked over another container shortly before josh got home. Their new obsession is the cabinet for the pots and pans, but I bought child locks and will be installing them later today.

SO, I think that’s all from here. I know this one was long, so sorry guys. I hope everyone else is doing well. Shira, how was home? Caitlin, how’s YOUR new place? (becareful, boys are not the best at actually washing the dishes and getting them CLEAN) Caitlin L and Frances, how’s the city? and has anyone heard from dawn-the-girl, jen, jess, or laura? Miss you all tons, love you all too!

what have i become?!?!?

something strange happened this weekend that i had to share with everyone. its really scary, so please make sure that you are sitting down when you are reading this. okay…….well, i went to boston to visit some old friends and we went out saturday night and guess what? I….DIDN’T……..DRINK!!! not one ounce of alcohol. now some of you might be thinking, “naaaahhh thats not possible”. but it is, i swear!!! and it was the most interesting experience i have ever had. did you know that women purposely wear absolutely nothing out, grind themselves against a poor innocent male, and then end up kissing!! why would people kiss someone they dont know?!?! whats that about?!?! well nonetheless it was an interesting experience.

on another note………congratulations to miss caitlin kelly for about to get engaged. we want pictures of the bling bling!! 🙂 good luck on your boards!!

Turks and Caicos

So I bet you are wondering what/where Turks and Caicos is. The answer to that is that it is a samll Carribean island about an hour by plane off of Miami. And that is where me and Sam will be going after I take boards (June 8th -17th)…and perhaps, just perhaps he will be giving me something kind of sparkly..:) Sam has done quite a bit of research on finding us the perfect island for this occasion and from what he has told me it sounds pretty amazing. All we wanted was some secluded beaches with white sand and clear water for snorkling. And that is about all Turks and Caicos has. So I guess I will be just forced to relax on the beach all day and eat like a pig and drink fancy drinks out of coconuts 🙂 Needless to say I am more then a little excited and am really starting to wonder about how Sam might pop the question. He has said that he designed the ring himself. I am so excited!!
So in other news: I finally finished 2nd year!! I would be a little more excited if I still wasn’t actually just studying every day for stupid boards. But I did go to U2 while they were in Chicago and it was amazing!! I found out that I get off July 4th so I feel you all should come and visit Chi-town and see the new ring! miss you all tons!

Ho-Hum

Not too too much to report around here. My roommate moved out a few weeks ago and you’ll never guess who her replacement is – none other than Craig! Yes, Craig from Binghamton, Jen’s friend from high school is my roomie! Everything’s getting along fine in that department – old roomie got me free shoes, Craig can get me free books, score! So the latest plan (inspired by the world travelers I know) is to learn Spanish in the next months and move to a Spanish-speaking country for a year. After I’ve broken a few hearts, come back and go to business school for entrepreneurship. Hope it all goes according to plan… Other than that, life has been pretty dull – by dull I mean no Oprah encounters or motorcycle rides! Shira, I’m so sorry we couldn’t get together when I was in Spain, and I’m sorry I missed you – but don’t worry, I hope to be back soon. I MUST go to this spa and meet your (no doubt) HOT circle of Italian male friends. I miss you ladies so much!
