Greetings!

Hello all… long time no talk. Just  wanted to check out the new site and say hello to everyone. I’m currently in Boston and will be here until the end of March. I do miss sunny california! (so jealous of you dawn) I hope everyone enjoys the holidays this year. Let me know if any of you ladies want to visit cold cold Boston. Don’t wear your Yankee gear – the boston fans are completly psycho! I’m like a closeted Yankee fan. lol. Have a happy december. Don’t work too hard. I’ll be home in NY for the week of christmas. Give a call if you like. Take care!!

The Art of Pulling a “Frances”

Well it HAS been a while since I have pulled a “Frances”, so it was bound to happen….

Story #1 – A few days ago, I finally got contacts!! I was so excited to try them out at some NYC bars and see how many men would flock to me. Well at one bar, things were going very well with this one guy, even ended up going home with him. When I was leaving, I put my shoes and jacket on in the dark, picked up my bag, and in my VERY drunken stupor made it downstairs and into a cab. This whole time, I am thinking “ouch my foot hurts!”, but didnt think much of it because my toe has been hurting a lot lately. The next morning, I wake up and see a strange shoe in my room. Turns out I had put on one of my shoes and one of his shoes. Meanwhile, the night before in my drunken stupor I scribbled my phone number on a piece of paper. So he called me the next day asking for his shoe back. That had to be the MOST uncomfortable conversation I have EVER had in my life.

Story #2 – Unfortunately I blink waaaay too much when trying to put contacts in my eyes, so it takes forever to get one in my eye. The other night I had dinner plans with Frank and I was in a rush to leave. Placed one contact in my eye and attempted to place the other contact in my eye. Then I look up and notice that one eye is blurry, so I assume that it is not in my eye and I have dropped it on the floor. I take the other contact out, put on my glasses and rush out to meet Frank. On my way there, I notice my eye really really hurts. I get to the bathroom of the restaurant and realize the contact was in my eye the whole time, but hidden on the top part of my eye. Took that out and tossed in the garbage. I think at this rate, I will be done with the 12 pairs in like a month?

Stay tuned for more stories….

Hi everyone!

Just thought I’d give the new site a try…how is everyone doing? Things are good here…me and Tim both managed to get time off for Christmas, so we’re going to his house in Michigan for a few days, and then NY for a few…it will be exhausting, but very worth it! Not too much else new…OH…I got a tattoo! It’s pretty…it’s three flowers that go along the arch of my foot…still not convinced it was a great idea, but I did it, so I’m teaching myself to love it! I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving-I miss you all!

Roomies Around The World Upgrades!

As you can see, I’m upgrading the site this week: switching to a more powerful blog program, so bear with us for a few more days.

How is everyone?  What are you all doing for New Year’s?  I’ve decided to come home for a month, arriving in Rochester on December 13 and departing January 13.

Happy Belated Birthday Caitlin!

These last few weeks have been such a blur. Happy Bday Cait! What did you do to celebrate this year? I hope something more exciting than studying for an exam or something like that. (I’m crossing my fingers that you at least made jell-o shots at home to enjoy while you were studying).

Congrats on the new job Nicole! It sounds great! I know how you feel about connections getting you a job…But all of the professional job search companies say that getting a job is all about connections, so I would say, don’t feel guilty, especially if it’s a job you like. Good luck!

How are you all doing? I’ve totally dropped off the face of the earth the last few months, sorry girls! I miss you all lots. Fall is in full swing here and with it came tourist season, so I’ve been working a stupid amount of time (i.e. ALL THE TIME) at this stupid job that I hate!! (okay, needed to vent) Just a couple more weeks at the bed and breakfast and then that’s over forever!! thank god.

I’m in the process of getting my italian passport, doing some geneological research, collecting official documents from town halls around the world…it’s interesting work. I wish I could just have it all done and get the damn passport already (b/c until I have that, getting another job is out of the question).

Luca and I are still in the move-in process. It has never taken me so long to get settled in a new house!! The main issue here is that I worked every single day this month except for this past Monday and Tuesday, when I was in Tuscany with Brenda and Gerry. So, yeah, not ever having a day off kind of sucks and limits the time you have for organizing–and living–your life.

I’m toying with the idea of starting my own business here in Italy. Wine exportation into the US. I would really love to start my own little bakeshop which is more in line with what I studied in school and what I love. It feels like such an overwhelming idea right now, that I’m not sure I’m ready for that. If anyone wants to move over here and help me, let me know!!

I’m planning on coming home this winter for an extended stay–at least a month or two. I miss my family so much I just can’t stand it. And since I’m out of a job for a while, I figure I’ll take advantage of this time.

Things with Luca are better than ever. Living together (sort of, if he ever moves his clothes in!!) has brought us much closer, and forces us to talk to eachother when we have issues (I have a tendancy to not talk…). So, thus far, it’s been great. Will try harder to keep in touch, miss you all tons and hope you had Happy Halloweens!! Did anyone dress up!?!

P.S. Dawn, you need to stop moving because every time you move I have to redesign your picture on our page!!! 🙂

Yay!

I have a job!! I have a FULL TIME job!! at a SCHOOL even!!

I’m sooo happy that I am gainfully employed! I’m working as a paraprofessional in a pretty neat elementary school. I love the school and my fellow teachers, and the students, a bunch. I’m helping out in the library for a large chunk of time (which is the best elementary library I have ever seen) and I’m also helping out with a special ed. writing class, working one-on-one with an adorable 5th grader who needs some extra attention, and monitoring the first and second grade recess. It’s a busy day, and I love that I’m helping the school where it needs me, but… I miss having a classroom! I want my OWN classroom!

but hey, it’s a foot in the door, and since I’m signing all my paperwork tomorrow morning, I think I get a desk!!

I got this job through a connection, and I will be FOREVER greatful for it, but there are a couple of times that I wish I didn’t know someone else in the school and I could figure it out on my own, you know?

love to all my lovely ladies!!

I’m home!

I’m back in the US! Yay! It is so great to be back. I got in to Cali on Sunday, and it has been hectic ever since then, but wonderful. Tim and I moved in to the house (I absolutely love it, he did a great job picking it out!). I don’t actually have to start work for about two more weeks, which is fantastic. I think I may have told you all I’ll be going to the ICU, but I’m not sure. The very first thing I did (after a little “personal time” with Tim of course) was go to Outback and have a steak and a beer! That’s the big news for now…I’ll post more soon, and if I can figure out how, I’ll put some pictures of the house up. Love you and miss you all! Dawn 🙂

all work and no play has made frances a dull girl!

hey ladies,

so glad to hear that everyone is doing well. life is going pretty good here in new york city. summer was filled with working, studying for my first doctoral exam, preparing for teaching, and attempting to relax. it was soooooooo awesome to see you guys. that was probably the biggest highlight!

no men! they seem to be non- existant. maybe my prince charming is out there making himself better for me?!?!? they say he shows up when you arent looking for him. so lets just say i have “stopped” looking?!?! do you hear me men?!?! I AM NOT LOOKING! NOT LOOKING AT ALL!! (maybe that will work?) i AM posting it on the internet. my prince charming will find this information and then know it is time to find me! 🙂 (geez- i have gotten pathetic!)

classes are actually interesting this year. no more boring required classes. i am taking a close specifically devoted to understanding developmental disabilities. unfortunately it is in staten island (a bit far from where i live) – but its an amazing class, so just have to deal with the commute.

teaching is going well too. i am teaching 2 sections of “Infancy and Child Development”. they are pretty much freshmans, sophmores, and some older people who are going back to school. i have gotten some of the dumbest questions! (i really hope we were not THIS stupid in undergrad.) the first day of class, i had this one annoying girl ask me what the exams would be like, what an A, B, C would equal – i so wanted to reply “like i know? i am just making this s**t up as i go along!” . there is a cute guy in my class (he’s 26! so i am NOT robbing the cradle). so thats a nice face to stare at when lecturing. (so asking him out would be immoral, right?)
