PJ Issues

bed.jpgWhat is up with the world’s female pajama situation? I’m sorry but it is way too difficult to find a decent pair of pajamas these days. They’re either super sexy with fake red fur attached wherever possible or the dorkiest piece of clothing you’ve ever seen in your life. Can’t someone come up with an attractive, sensible pajama for women?

We went skiing this weekend with Claudia and Fabrizio (the architects from Torino) and stayed in Claudia’s condo in Saux d’Oux. The condo was small so the four of us slept in the same room (in two different beds). I was sporting my new nightshirt from Sarah Jessica Parker’s line Bitten (which I picked out myself with a gift certificate from Mom and Dad, thinking that this could be the answer to my pajama problems.) I had chosen a not-so-attractive pair of pastel green capri style pajama pants from my old collection to go with the nightshirt, seeing as how we would all be sleeping in the same tight quarters.

Well, there I was, in my part-new part-old pj’s ready for bed, when Claudia comes out of the bathroom in what was decidedly not your average slumber party sleeping attire. (Unless you’re into the slumber parties that are often held at the Playboy Mansion). It was a black bra with three rows of (what I’m sure was the best French lace) and a pair of matching short-style underpants. She had a sheer tie-on wrap over the whole thing, but still, I have to say it kind of burst my pj balloon. So much for the idea that I had passed from old granny to attractive but sensible pajama realm. Definitely still old granny.

I enjoy sleep shirts. At least they are comfortable. Who wants to be restricted by a bra while sleeping? I sure don’t! I won’t even wear lace during the day! haha 🙂

When we’re camping or traveling somewhere with friends, I usually wear either pajama pants or a shorts/top kind of thing. No need for indecent exposure! Let’s just embrace our inner grannies! Plus, it makes doing laundry a lot easier 😉

Yeah, I feel embracing the inner granny may be the best solution. You should see Luca’s pajamas!!! HAAAA! Sorry, Luca, but even you have to admit they’re hilarious. His Mom is always buying these pjs with little ship prints that are exactly the same thing he was wearing when he was six years old. They’re totally cute, but decidedly not macho at all. I crack up every time he puts them on.

Yeah, the big t-shirt thing is a winner with me–the new nightshirt I got is like that and it’s really comfy.

I remember when we had pajama day in high school I always had to borrow one of your satin two piece numbers to wear to school because I totally didn’t have anything! I don’t know about the satin two piecers anymore…(also because I’m sure I’ve ever actually owned that style of pj and slept in it). I think I would have to say that the big T is more comfortable.

LOL – I totally forgot about those satin pjs, and about pajama day at school. LOL. I have to say that I do have a whole pile of flannel pajamas that I never wear anymore because it never really gets cold enough to wear them here. Nice for when it’s 10 below zero, but sweat-inducing when the temperature really never gets much below 30.

I’ve never seen Oak wear pajamas – I have tried to get him to get pajama pants numerous times and it doesn’t work. Let alone ones with sailboats! LOL 🙂 Do they have a trap door in the back ?? hahaha 😉
