Soho welcomes us at the door. Looks like he's ready for the beach.

Over the next few days Brenda and Gerry (the ultimate hosts) show us the town and treat us to a life of luxury. These are blooming artichokes from the great local farmer's market.

We've never seen so many organic vegetables in one block!

Brenda and Gerry have a previous engagement and have to be out for the night, so we pick up some fabulous heirloom tomatoes and decide to make dinner at home.

Chef Brenda does a demonstration.

Soho's looking forward to staying in tonight. It's been a rough day.

After most of dinner prep is done, Dave and I do a quick tourist visit to Venice Beach.

We even go body surfing in the Pacific!

Later that evening Feldman and Zippo (old baseball buddies from way back) join us for a casual dinner. The menu includes a selection of goodies from our trip to the farmer's market earlier: Heirloom Tomato and Mozzarella Salad, Pan-Seared Red-Tail Tuna and Green Beans. Quite delish! The next morning Brenda and Gerry take us out for the traditional breakfast at Patrick's and then we're off again for the final leg of the cross-country journey.
