THE Ultimate Stocking: 2011

It’s that time of year again!

Ultimate Stocking time, of course. This is a tradition I started in 2003 (can you believe it?!) and it’s still going strong (at least in my heart). The Ultimate Stocking is a space for you to share with the world what you hope to get in your stocking this year.  Just leave your list in a comment below and rest assured that your prayers will be answered (mine always have!)

I was reading over previous years’ stuffings and discovered I almost always hope for the same thing, so I’m going to try and mix it up a little this year.

Santa, if you’re listening, here’s what I’m hoping for:

  • A magnetized pin box
  • A roller cutter like one of these
  • Sewing chalk (for marking lines and tracing patterns)
  • An attachable light for my kindle (All the best places to read seem to be dark corners…)
  • The broken part on sewing machine (Since you’re all-knowing, I guess you can figure this out, it’s the thing that makes the thread turn.  I’m improvising with a chopstick right now)
  • A gift certificate to Ancestry.com World (just a few  months)
  • A  yard stick that has the metric system on it too
  • Tickets (anywhere, to anything, surprise me)
  • Something to make my jewelry not tarnish anymore (maybe a jewelry box would help too…)
  • Gift certificate to shoe and/or clothing store
  • Magnetized notepad for the fridgerator
  • A purse hook (this one’s really tacky, but this is the idea)
  • One of Aunt Cindy’s pecan pies
  • A jar of Aunt Carmel’s homemade sweet pickles
  • Seeds for next year’s garden
  • Little pinzer hair clamps
  • Pedicure gift certificate
  • Sewing lesson (how to read patterns/take measurements…)
  • Homemade Christmas tree ornaments
  • Christmas music
  • A bottle of Opi nail polish
  • Fresh White Musk body spray (Lori Bennett gave me some a couple of years ago and it’s lasted forever without getting that nasty old perfume smell.  I love it!)

As usual, everyone who shares their stocking hopes will be entered in a contest to win a fabulous MoltenChocolate prize!  Merry Christmas!

Thanks Kassie! I always enjoy reading about your adventures and looking at your awesome pictures too. I noticed you’ve been talking a lot about CA lately, are you officially moving back to San Francisco? What do you want in your stocking?? I’m just starting to get in the Christmas spirit, but am heading back to the states on Wednesday, so that should help. There’s always more holiday fever in Upstate New York than there is here in northern Italy. Was it like that in Germany too? Hope you have a great holiday season too. Say hi to Greystone for me! xo Shira

Oh man, i haven’t thought about my contribution to the ultimate stocking competition much this year!!! I am taking into consideration the fact that Oak’s family uses comically large stockings, so maybe this stuff would actually fit! haha.

    Here are a few thoughts..

    * Beautiful eyeshadow assortment, primer, and eyeliner
    * The perfect sparkly holiday blazer or sweater
    * A new pair of polar fleece gloves
    * Socks (of course)
    * Comfy and stylish brown boots
    * A round mirror for over the mantle(ok that might be pushing the size a bit)
    * Some new perfume – usually any teeny-bopper scent is good for me (whatever! Hillary Duff smells delicious!)
    * Christmas elves to come paint the kitchen. Or, even just if they painted all the doors, that’d be greaaaat. 🙂 haha

Ooooh, large stockings can be dangerous! My sister has a really humungous one that someone knitted for her, but it always ends up getting filled with oranges or cans of black olives in the end.lol.

What’s eyeshadow primer? I’ve never even heard of that! I’ve got a fever to have a formal wear party like our NYE (Was it 2000) one, a little more grown up. How much fun it would be plan another party together and make all our high school friends come. (Maybe I’ll come visit you and we can host a southern belle party. That would finally give me an excuse to buy one of those awesome Scarlett O’Hara gowns I’ve always wanted to waltz around in) ding!

Crossing my fingers that your door-painting elves will come through! xoxo Shira

haha yeah, “normal” presents always end up in the comically large stockings! Which, kind of defeats the purpose of the stocking to begin with in my opinion.
Primer is supposed to help the eye shadow show up better and stay on longer! It’s also like $25 for a tube of it which is why I don’t have any yet.. 😉 There are these ladies on youtube that swear by using it.
The mention of Scarlett O’hara reminds me of this deal Oak and I made. I will watch the first 3 star wars movies if he watches Gone with the Wind (I’m not even requesting he watch Scarlett.. remember that movie? OMG!). This might happen over our holiday break. haha 🙂 It would be fun to have those dresses though huh? Unfortunately I have yet to see one in real! Boo. Hope you have a great Christmas, say hi to the fam for me!
