Woe is My “Garden”

Once again my attempts at farming are fruitless this year.  The pumpkins are dead.  Alas!

Next year I’m planning on planting lots of zinnias and cipolloti (spring onions).

Don’t feel bad. Apparently all the pumpkins at the farms here didn’t do so well either, so they’re more expensive this year! (Along with peaches, apples, blueberries… it is not a good year for NC agriculture) I think we are going to get one to carve anyway. What were you planning on doing with them?

Oh yeah, do you have ramps in Italy? They seem to be a trendy food but I think you have to drive to the mountains to get them here.. apparently when you eat ramps you stink for like 3 days afterwards. LOL 🙂 I guess they’re some kind of spring onion/garlic kind of thing..

Yes, I think we do have ramps here. There are all sorts of strange root-like vegetablest that people harvest in the wilderness. Dandelion greens are also big.
